Trust Montana has a handful of exciting outreach events coming up. First is this week’s tabling event at the Montana Association of Realtor’s Statewide Conference in Big Sky on Thursday September 23, 2021. Lori Freeman Esq., General Counsel, for Trust Montana will be tabling at this event to spread the word about the work Trust Montana is doing in the state. Realtors are essential to the work community land trusts do, and their awareness of the model can help buyers and sellers navigate the of buying or selling a CLT home. Next up is a “Community Land Trust Basics for Housing Counselors” class which will be taught via zoom on October 6, 2021 for a housing counselor training organized by Neighborworks MT. Austin and Lori will co-teach this class. Neighborworks MT has a large network of partners across the state who offer homebuyer education courses. Trust Montana will be at the Montana Tax Institute on October 15 to moderate a panel on Community Land Trusts. The session is called “Affordable Housing: Are There Answers to the Crisis?” and it will feature– Lori Freeman, Trust Montana, Jon Peterson, Winthrop & Weinstine, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jason Harby, St. Peter Law Offices, Missoula, Montana, and Cheryl Cohen, Montana Board of Housing.
If you’re a real estate agent in need of some continuing education credits, please join our Montana Association of Realtors approved 2 credit CE class on October 21, 2021. Lori will teach this course on community land trust basics, and how real estate agents can best represent buyers and sellers of community land trust homes. Finally on November 4, 2021 Lori will present to the Montana Land Title Association’s fall seminar in Billings! The class will cover the important role title agents play in community land trust home transactions, and will give a title agents a comprehensive overview of the unique aspects of the recording process required for community land trust transactions.
